Khun Nick - Thailand Curious

My first encounter with Thailand happened about seventeen years ago.

I surfaced from a grey Odesa winter and suddenly found myself in a different reality – warm and bursting with color.

Thai sabai soon lit up my life, and I became a regular guest in the Kingdom.

I’ve knocked about the world a fair bit since then, but Thailand always held a special place in my heart, waiting for its moment. And I came back! This time, to stay.

I’m curious by nature, and I take real pleasure in exploring new linguistic and cultural spaces. Thailand, in this respect, is a dream. Accessible, understandable, user-friendly on the surface. But beneath that apparent simplicity lie layers of fascinations and mysteries.

In this blog I explore Thai culture, food – an essential part of it – and the language. I also make friends with the local cats and tell you their stories.

Three facts about me:

– Originally from Odesa, Ukraine. I moved to Luxembourg about fifteen years ago.

– I lived and studied in Scotland – a graduate of The University of Edinburgh, with a Master’s in Linguistics and Language Teaching. After that, I set off to travel.

– My real education wasn’t the universities – it was almost five years of full-time travel. In that time I visited more than 40 countries, lived in 5, met all kinds of people, and saw the world.

Sawadee Krap, and welcome!
