
Lounging in the shade under the awning, enthroned on a blue plastic chair, waiting on the evening fish – now that’s the life!

The familiar song of the muezzin drifting over from the mosque nearby is a lullaby by now. Faithful Ginger stands guard over her rest.

The growling boats, though, tearing up and down the narrow Khlong Saen Saep canal – mildly irritating. As are the pushy visitors who shove cameras in her face, disturbing the royal daydreams of the Princess of Ban Khrua.

Right. Time to get up and take a stroll across the rooftops before dinner, past those strange big plates that never hold any fish.
